Goodbye for now NYC
Day 3 NYC On my final day I made further use of my hop on hop off ticket and went back down town with the purpose of catching the ferry back up the Hudson River to catch my train. The views were once again amazing and the tour guide told stories rather than just point out location’s. He actually got very philosophical as we past the south tip and described that this was the view of the city that the pilots who flew the planes into the towers would have seen and how that contrasted with the people in the towers unaware of what was happening and the people on the planes who would have been frantically trying to contact loved ones to say their final goodbyes. If it wasn’t for no reception I would have phoned someone right then to just say, Hi, it’s Phil, I’m in New York, I love you. The train ride out of the city goes through some amazing scenery of what people call upstate. Along the Hudson River there are little towns with names like Greystone, Hastings, Tarry Town and Poughkeepsie. Beautiful houses and little harbours with town celebrations going on. BBQ’s in the summer sun with the river yards away seems a million miles away from the Cowboy in his pants. Next stop Chicago.
