Houston - New Orleans

It was a short train journey from Dallas to Houston and to be honest I slept most of the way. I didn't see much of the city centre as it was starting to get a bit late in the afternoon and I didn't want to be stuck between the city and my friends house around 30 miles away in the town of Spring. The road to spring was pretty awful. Industrial, dusty and very busy. I stayed with my work friend Don and his 3 insane dogs. The next day day we went into Lonestar Fasteners Houston to meet his team and have a day looking around the workplace and seeing how it compared to Lonestar Europe. One fastener company is pretty much the same as another but it was good to get the photograph of my bicycle leaning up against the Lonestar flag. The next day was quite chilled just hanging around Spring. In all I had 2 relaxing days of eating and chilling. Nothing wrong with that every now and then.

I couldn't get a train to New Orleans so ended up catching an awful overnight Greyhound bus. Probably won't do that again unless really desperate. New Orleans was really beautiful. I stayed with a cyclist from Warmshowers who let me stay for 2 nights. I had a fantastic first day cycling around the French Quarter, watching steamboats and eating Gator burgers. On my final day I took a ride along the Bayou and through the city park with it's beautiful trees and monuments.

Next stop Washington DC.
